Active Acne Treatment

Causes Of Active Acne

Active acne is common and unpleasant. It affects millions of people in Canada, and one of the most common types is called cystic acne. Treatments for acne can vary from oral medications to topical solution, and now more advanced technologies are used to treat acne-related skin conditions. Active acne, especially cystic acne, can be painful, nasty, and embarrassing at times.

How Does It Work?

The Fotona laser system with its Dynamis laser module is a revolutionary machine that has the capacity to combine the Nd:YAG (YAG laser) and Er:YAG (erbium laser) to effectively treat various forms of acne. The thermal effects of these two lasers produce disinfecting properties in the cysts and surrounding tissues, while the erbium laser micro punctures the hole, causing immediate drainage of the pus-filled cyst. This provides the patient with instantaneous relief from the pressure the cyst was causing. The Er:YAG laser can be applied to the drained area to assist in coagulating the tissue and efficiently disinfecting the newly treated area to prevent reoccurrence.

Who Is An Ideal Candidate?

Patients who suffer from persistent active acne or cystic acne are ideal candidates for treating their acne with the Fotona Dynamis laser system. Improvements in the condition of the skin can be seen in about a week, with gradual improvements over a few weeks. People with aggressive forms of acne usually require a series of treatments with a prescribed skincare regimen to improve the overall general health of the skin from the inside out.
SKIN IN PROGRESS: 2 weeks after fractional erbium laser. Remember the best foundation is healthy, well-functioning skin. The skin will continue to improve for up to 4-6 weeks. We plan to do another 2 sessions for this patient.
